About

What is Dauntlessmedia?

Dauntlessmedia is the online showcase for the creative talents of its author, Samuel Walters (that’s me!).  The site is currently divided into three primary sections: Writing, Photography and Reviews. My current efforts are directed toward completing my first novel for publication.  Prospective agents, editors and publishers (as well as curious readers!) are invited to visit the official Andira Chronicles website, which currently features an overview of the story development, as well as a collection of short stories that serve as writing samples.

The History of DauntlessMedia.net

DauntlessMedia.net has had a presence on the internet since December 2003. The site started off as a message board called “The Adventurer’s Club” at DauntlessMedia.Net. Back then, it was a collection of forums centered on the theme of adventure movies, books, television shows, games and music. A front page provided updates, previews and reviews.

Since then, the site has seen a number of changes, including a move to a new domain name (adventurers-club.net) and an e-zine publication (adventure-chronicles.com). A number of very good people were involved in both projects, and I would like to thank each and every one who volunteered their creativity, energy and time in the pursuit of those endeavors. Those efforts have not gone in vain. Rather, they inspired the rebirth of DauntlessMedia.Net.

As of August 2007, the site has returned to its original domain: dauntlessmedia.net with a new vision. The original mission remained the same: to provide reviews, commentary and more about a wide variety of books, DVDs, games, music and graphics. But instead of forums with a front page for reposting news found elsewhere on the web, DauntlessMedia.Net became a network of websites dedicated to the thorough examination of modern myth. Much like Joseph Campbell sought to uncover and analyze the interconnectedness of ancient cultures and mythologies, DauntlessMedia.net will seek to uncover and analyze the interconnectedness, the mythos, of modern stories.

There was a center, or hub, of the network which provided a wide array of reviews, creative writing, and articles in a blog format, as well as content-specific pages. There was even a message board, in case anyone was interested in more open ended discussions. But unlike the past, the main priority of DauntlessMedia.net was no longer a message board, but rather its network of content-specific websites.

While reviews remained the primary focus of Dauntlessmedia through 2010, other content was available, including original fiction, poetry and photography.  The site evolved in design and content and developed a small-but-loyal following.  As of 2011, however, the primary focus has shifted from reviews to original content.  Reviews will always remain a part of the site — and new reviews can be expected from time to time — but they no longer represent the main priority.
