“After an infuriating meeting, The Stranger quits his job and tells his assistant that things are going change…that it’s all coming to an end.”

Character: The Stranger (Tim Halling)
Episode 09 is another strong installment, which develops further just how much people knew, or thought they knew, prior to The Day. It’s an episode rich with irony — much of what the Stranger says will come to pass — and his own character, when seen in the After Judgment episodes, has become radically different.

“Dusty is disappointed by his performance, but then is witness to something that will change the world forever.”

Character: Dusty (Jacob D. Smith)
Episode 08 is yet another change of pace, focusing on a more abstract, artistic, even poetic approach. It’s an example of the series expanding its palette. And the effects are all for the best.

“The Neighbor talks about the trainers and establishes his dislike for Steven, the guy who lives upstairs. Then he spots something outside that freaks him out.”

Character: The Neighbor (Mike Davies, Jr.)
Episode 07 is … haunting. The Neighbor’s ruminations about the world he now inhabits, as well as the possible circumstances on the other side of the world. And it ends with yet another mystery …

“Susan shows her friend a strange anomaly – a place where the ground shakes… Then they flee from Trainers.”

Character: Susan (Monika Jolly)
“Susan, Part 1″ works very well as an episode to reinforce some prior revelations, as well as provide insight on yet another character. It’s strength is a brisk pace, which leads directly into some rather genuine suspense.

“Troy continues his trek through the forest and reveals his discovery… then he decides to embark on a new adventure.”

Character: Troy (Ian Imrie)
In “Troy, Part 2″ we finally learn what it was that spooked Troy so much. His determination certainly is remarkable, though, with all of the build up of a two-part episode, the revelation feels a bit anti-climactic.

“Many years ago TV Star Guy Curtz was the envy of every Hollywood starlet and a fan favorite until his antics and shenanigans made him the target of every paparazzi in Los Angeles… This is just a sample.”

Characters: Guy (John L. Curtis); Michelle (Taryn O’Neill)
“TVZ” is a surprising change of pace for the Before Judgment series. Comprised of an “entertainment magazine” TV story (from the fake TVZ program), it follows an actor and his latest love interest, Michelle — who just happens to become one of the most prominent characters in the After Judgment series.

“The Neighbor talks about the Trainers, the riots, and what happened on the day.”

Character: The Neighbor (Mike Davies, Jr.)
“The Neighbor’s Diary #87, Part 1″ is an enjoyable episode which maintains the same approach as the first “Diary” episode of Before Judgment. To that end, we continue to get solid acting, ethereal music, bits of information, and the annoying-yet-tantalyzing transitions between the diary footage and that of The Day when everything changed.

“Troy hikes a treacherous mountain on the edge of the city. Deep within the forest he reveals the location where he first discovered the disturbing anomaly.”

Character: Troy (Ian Imrie)
The Before Judgment series continues with an ominous installment that, while similar in some respects to The Blair Witch Projects, successfully manages to create a unique and compelling experience.

“The Neighbor recounts some of the details leading up to the fall of humanity.”

Character: The Neighbor (Mike Davies, Jr.)
The Before Judgment series of “prequel” episodes begins with “The Neighbor’s Diary.” This installment focuses on The Neighbor speaking into his camcorder and providing a great deal of background information on how the apocalypse unfolded.

“The revelation and conversation is halted by an earthquake shock that shakes the entire shop. Steven and his companions exit the shop only to find out that the earthquake shock was the result of something completely different.”

“A Time For A Change” ends the first cycle of episodes from the After Judgment series. It’s a suitably bizarre and intriguing installment that also recaps many of the main plot events of the series thus far.

“Steven and his reluctant band of searchers make their way to the pizza shop. There they discuss several startling discoveries and their ramifications.”

“Heaven Is So Far Away” is thoroughly compelling episode thanks to its deeper subtext — which just so happens to include a focus on religion. The result is another layer to the overall After Judgment story and, quite frankly, when the webisode ended I was so thoroughly engrossed that I simply wanted to keep listening to their conversations.

“Steven rallies the troops at the behest of Lawrence and Xavier to head to the pizza shop. He is stopped, once again by Susan, but this time she insists that she join them.”

“Time Waits For No One” is an episode more about mood than it is about plot or even character (though there is a little bit of the latter). There’s a bit of irony here as Steven and his comrades seem to be doing a whole lot of nothing, all while the viewer is being told that “time waits for no one.”

“Steven dreams of the night that his son left and how he was powerless to stop it. His slumber is interrupted by Lawrence and Xavier (his only true friends in the world) looking for something to eat.”

“Sins of Our Father” does a fantastic job of bringing the audience along an emotional journey — from the palpable sense of forboding in its opening scene, to the surprise and humor and its closing one.

“After countless hours of searching the group decides that a calculated retreat is in order. Steven recalls the night the world went away.”

“We Stay Together” continues the mystery of not only the present, but the past as well. This balancing act is well handled within the episode, although, the revelations aren’t particularly new for anyone who has been following the “Before Judgment” installments of the series.
