1.07 – Sunset and the Afterglow – After Judgment Review
“Steven and Michelle share a post-coital moment and discuss the plight of the world. Their conversation is interrupted when Steven has a prophetic vision and bolts from the apartment.”

“Sunset And The Afterglow” brings us to the verge of the events we witnessed in the opening episode of the series. Michelle and Steven are, finally, together. And Steven’s vision proves to be the kind of shock that shakes loose his complacency.
In this episode:
- Michelle compliments Steven on his pizza-making skills
- She advises him to open the place up
- She also recommends that they go into business together
- The locusts in the background are a nice touch
- They share a smoke
- Michelle comments on how much she likes the sunset
- Steven corrects her by saying that “technically, the sun doesn’t set anymore”
- Then says that he doesn’t like sharing
- Steven thinks he “just saw a little boy”
- The episode ends with Steven exclaiming, “When was the last time you saw a little kid? Yeah, exactly.”
The scenes between Michelle and Steven are enjoyable for the interactions of the two characters. What’s amazing is how “lifeless” they both seem after their moment of intimacy. And it isn’t until Steven sees the little boy that he, finally, becomes animated and, well, passionate about something (a contrast to the lack of passion he demonstrates toward an obviously attractive woman laying naked in his bed).
