1.15 – Heaven Is So Far Away – After Judgment Review
“Steven and his reluctant band of searchers make their way to the pizza shop. There they discuss several startling discoveries and their ramifications.”

“Heaven Is So Far Away” is thoroughly compelling episode thanks to its deeper subtext — which just so happens to include a focus on religion. The result is another layer to the overall After Judgment story and, quite frankly, when the webisode ended I was so thoroughly engrossed that I simply wanted to keep listening to their conversations.
In this episode:
- Steven introduces his friends to the group
- Outside the pizza shop, a man is talking to himself
- Xavier and Lawrence have a theory about The Boy
- They recount a story “of the last days on earth”
- Xavier and Lawrence hold multiple phD’s in theology
- They claim, “There’s still a chance … at getting into heaven.”
First a disclaimer: I am far from religious. And I hold no special affection for stories which tack heavily into a religious context or message. But there’s two important things about how this episode handles the subject matter: First, it isn’t overwhelming and second, it serves a “higher purpose” (pun intended) — namely to provide a larger context for the story arc of the searchers. Plus, the additional mystery of the story found by Xavier and Lawrence is tantalyzing.
Good stuff.
