Episode 10 takes a closer look at the main character from the After Judgment series: Steven. In this episode, we see him just after he, quite literally, loses his religion.

In this episode:

• Says, “God didn’t do all of this. We did.”
• Admits that he has seen many of the strange lights in the sky
• Says, “Mother nature is turning against us. Against our greed, against our lack of respect … and she’s winning.”
• The camera man thinks its aliens.
• Admits that he “quit” being a man of God
• Decides to spend time with his son
• Is video taped buying liquor and drinking it out of a brown paper bag
• Black-and-white footage of Steven shooting a woman — from After Judgment

I rather enjoy this installment.  Steven’s disillusionment is palpable.  His sense of bitterness is plausible.  It’s a perfect segue between the Before Judgment and After Judgment storylines.  In many respects, the Before Judgment series has created a more compelling narrative through it’s less-streamlined approach, allowing audiences to fill in gaps using their imaginations, rather than the more (though not completely) linear narrative of After Judgment.  Still, whichever series you prefer, this episode is the perfect bridge between them.
