Afterworld
Afterworld music:
According to the official afterworld.tv website, Afterworld is “a fully immersive sci-fi series … a new kind of computer-animated entertainment that blends video games, graphic novels and anime into one dynamic experience.”
Put simply, it’s like nothing you’ve ever experienced before. The multi-platform storytelling provides multiple layers for audiences to delve into — if they choose to do so. Easily accessible is Russell’s Journal, a supplementary interactive diary which provides more detail and in depth character exploration as a companion to the webisodes. But there is also an array of other media, including wallpaper, music videos, and clues hidden throughout the series for even deeper explorations.
As for the story itself, the official site sums it up by saying, “Afterworld is about life on Earth after an inexplicable global event renders technology useless and 99.9% of the population missing.”
Because of the reference to the end of 99.9% of the world’s population, the story might seem reminiscent to Stephen King’s The Stand. However, the direction, pacing, structure and overall purpose of the two stories are quite different. And because this story is told through short bursts of two-minute webisodes, it avoids the verbosity of Stephen King’s opus. Rather, each webisode is more akin to a poem than it is to a chapter in a novel. A very different experience, indeed.
All 130 episodes comprising Season One are already complete, and Dauntlessmedia.net will be reviewing, on average, roughly one episode per day. When this journey is complete, we will prepare for Afterworld Season Two which is currently in the planning stages of development.
