Episode 2 – Central Division
After the gruesome discovery at the end of Episode 1, Detectives Edwards and Hodge try to figure out their next step. The result is a truly shocking twist, playing on the whole “buddy cop” meme which has become so standard that almost no cop series seems to be able to exist without it.
In this episode:
- Edwards gives up a specific numeric code for something valuable
- Edwards is betrayed by Hodge
I think what stands out the most about this episode is the acting. Hodge is entirely believable as a man concerned about his partner and Edwards is filled with rage and despair about the death of his wife. That the status quo is thrown into chaos, by Hodge’s betrayal, is entirely unexpected — and a fantastic development for the series.
