File No. 4 - In Deep - Gemini Division Review
Anna’s world changes … forever …
This episode begins with the final scene of the last episode — with the doctor performing some kind of bizarre procedure on Nick. Suddenly they are interrupted by two men, one carrying what looks like a vacuum cleaner on his back (or is that a Ghostbusters nuclear accelerator?). In any event, the one intruder has his arm severed by a laser-like weapon from the doctor. The doctor is subsequently shot by the vaccuum cleaner … and then so is Nick.
And then it becomes … surreal.
Anna watches Nick slowly dissolve into an orange kind of goo (likely similar to what she found in the bathtub). Of course, the whole time Anna is screaming at the top of her lungs, even though she is supposed to be inconspicuously hiding. That a police officer would be so completely stupid as to alert the intruders to her location is a very poor writing decision. As it is, the episode ends with the Ghostbuster firing at Anna.
On the whole, the episode certainly moves things at a bit quiker pace. But at just 2:14 it’s also the shortest installment to date. Add in the stupid plot device of Anna’s screams and the episode just doesn’t work. Thus far, the series just hasn’t been able to gain any traction. One hopes that soon, with the establishing work complete, things will pick up. But that can only happen if the writing itself improves.
