Indiana Jones is a series of feature films from legendary filmmakers George Lucas and Steven Spielberg. The first film, titled Raiders of the Lost Ark, was released in 1981 and has long been regarded as one of the most successful films — in terms of both box office and reception — in film history. Raiders of the Lost Ark would eventually spawn three movie sequels (The Temple of Doom, 1984; The Last Crusade, 1989; and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, 2008), as well as a television series called The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles.
In addition to the acclaim that the films themselves have received, the soundtracks to all four feature films, composed and conducted by the incomparable John Williams, are just as highly regarded. As of November 2008, all four soundtracks will be available in a boxed set, celebrating the sound that defined the adventure genre.
